About this site
This is the official portal of the Danube Alliance – an informal platform for dialog and exchange of ideas concerning issues related to the Danube macro region.
As a forum for cooperation with a multi-stakeholder approach – government ministries, European Commission, intergovernmental organizations, NGOs, academic and financial institutions, local and regional networks, etc - the Danube Alliance is coordinating the implementation of the EU Strategy for the Danube Region, a strategy meant to boost the development of this macro-region and ensure economic growth, for the benefit of the people living in the Danube Region.
In order to achieve the objectives laid out in the EU Strategy Europe 2020, of smart, sustainable and inclusive growth, an active involvement of all regions across the EU will be required. Building on the good practices established by the EU Strategy for the Baltic Sea Region, the Danube Strategy is offering a united response to the challenges affecting one fifth of the EU territory and over 100 millions inhabitants.
